Sahiwal Cows are considered as the best milch cattle breed in India and are very popular among the farmers. These cows are also known as “Lola” due to their loose skin. Other names are Multani, Lambi bar and Teli. They are mostly found in Punjab, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Bihar and Madhya Pradesh. These are the best indigenous breed with an average milk yield in between 1400 and 2500 Kilograms per lactation. Sahiwal cows are usually reddish, pale red and dull in color with small and large white patches on their body. This breed yields more milk as compared to other desi cow breed with an average of 8 Kg to 10 Kg per day. The he lactation period of this breed is nearly 10 months. The average weight of a mature cow is 340 Kg.
